Resourcing your Education

Mabee Learning Commons’ mission is to design and develop resources to help every student, staff and faculty member achieve their full potential while at MidAmerica Nazarene University.

Our student success programs help students make a smooth transition into college. The Academic Success Center (ASC) is MNU’s primary academic resource for MNU students needing academic support

The Mabee Library provides visitors with digital materials, print materials, and study zones for academic success.

The library team offers research assistance and technology support on a drop-in and/or appointment basis. Please come by for a visit!

FAIRSMNU hosts two annual fair events where employers can recruit students for their open opportunities.

  • Connections Fair: The Connections Fair is hosted as a part of Welcome Week in the fall semester during the first week of classes.
  • Career & Internship Fair: The Career and Internship Fair is held in the spring semester on a Wednesday in the last week of February/first week in March.

Exam & Testing Services

Accommodations/Testing The Coordinator for Student Academic Success provides accommodations for students who have a disability and manages the Testing Center. A disability may include a medical condition, mental health challenge, physical disability, learning disability or a short-term condition related to an accident or illness. Accommodations are meant to remove barriers to learning or to accessing the curriculum. Significant alterations to the curriculum or course delivery are not considered reasonable accommodations. Students who want to take CLEP exam or other standard exams such as DSST, Accuplacer, or ATI exams, should contact the Testing Center at testing@5675n.com.

  • ACT Exam: The ACT is administered on campus during freshman orientation.
  • CLEP and DSST Exams: We offer CLEP and DSST exams on demand in the Academic Support Center, allowing MNU students to earn credit for their respective degrees by passing the appropriate exam.

The CLEP exam allows MNU students to earn credit in many General Education and elective courses for their respective degrees by simply passing the appropriate test.

At MNU there are a few prerequisite courses for which you have the option to demonstrate proficiency by passing a CLEP exam. Categories for CLEP exams include History & Social Sciences, Composition & Literature, Science & Mathematics, Business, World Languages.

Eligible courses for CLEP exam exemption include Lifespan Development, College Algebra, English Composition I, Chemistry and Biology. Our admissions staff can work with you if you’d like to utilize a CLEP exam option.

CLEP Test Preparation
  • Go to http://clep.collegeboard.org/exam for more information on CLEP exams.
  • MNU offers CLEP tests on demand. Please contact the MNU’s Academic Success Center, 913.971.3387 or testing@5675n.com, for more information on scheduling your exam at MNU.
  • You may take CLEP tests anywhere the test is administered—not just at MNU. You’ll just need to enter MNU as the destination for your results. MNU’s CLEP code is 6437. CLEP results take a few weeks to be sent.
Overview of IRS Regulations
    • Find out the CLEP policy for your academic area
      Each academic area at MidAmerica Nazarene University sets its own policy regarding which CLEP exams it will grant credit for and how many credits it will award. Contact your academic adviser to learn more about the CLEP policy in your academic area at MNU.
  • Create a CLEP account
    You can manage your personal account through the CLEP registration portal. The registration platform will allow you to register for a CLEP exam 24/7, manage your personal information any time prior to taking the exam, select your score recipient institution, and purchase study materials.
    • Go to: clep.collegeboard.org
    • Complete all required fields
    • MNU’s CLEP location number is 6437
      Submit the $85 payment for each exam
    • Print the payment receipt. You will not be allowed to test without a copy of the receipt.

For test preparation go to the Next Steps section and click “Try a practice test” and “Get study materials”.

    • Schedule your test
      After you register for an exam, it is important that you contact the test center at least 2 days in advance of the test date to schedule your appointment. Registering for an exam provides you with a payment receipt and a Ticket ID.
    • Online Payment of $20 Exam Administration Fee
  • Bring to your exam:
    • Exam payment receipt
    • Government issued photo identification
    • Administration Fee payment receipt
Accommodations for Students with Disabilities
If you have a learning or physical disability that would prevent you from taking a CLEP exam under standard conditions, you may request accommodations from the Academic Success Center. Contact us 5 days in advance of your exam date to make the necessary arrangements, submit documentation and receive approval of accommodations.

The DSST exam allows you to earn credit in many General Education and elective courses for their respective degrees by simply passing the appropriate test, saving you time and money. At MNU there are a few prerequisite courses for which you have the option to demonstrate proficiency by passing a DSST exam.

DSST exam steps
  • Visit the getcollegecredit.com website to see which exams are available. Exam rules and preparation material are also available on the website.
  • Verify with your academic advisor that the exam you plan to take is accepted at MNU.
  • Schedule your exam at the Academic Success Center at least 2 days before the day you would like to test.
  • Arrive on time for testing at the Academic Success Center and provide your government issued photo ID.
  • Pay the $80 exam fee directly to DSST, when you log in to take the exam. This must be paid by credit or debit card.
  • Online Payment of $20 MNU Exam Administration Fee
  • Register with DSST and indicate where you want your official score report to be sent. This is also done when you log in to take the exam. The MNU DSST location ID number is 8801.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities. These laws aim to remove barriers that prevent qualified individuals with disabilities from enjoying the same opportunities available to persons without disabilities.
